there was a pool table downstairs and the guys who ran the hotel were friendly
rooms were a bit shabby, beds were a bit grubby. the bathroom tap fell off in my hand
unfriendly reception, the room was cold,we had to go to reception and ask for the heater to be turned on. it was then turned off at reception during the night ( in freezing weather ) so cold in the morning. the room smelled bad and the spray they had used to try to mask it was choking us. The bath had mould around it, there was a large section of tiles missing from the wall above the toilet and paint hanging off the ceiling. the floors had not been vaccuumed and there were paint splashes all over the carpets
Olde Worlde character. Good tv in room.
Had to ask for the (electric) heating to be switched on (evening), even though it was cold weather, and in the morning (frosty morning) had to ask again. The dining room was very cold (heating off), and our breakfasts went cold quicker than we could eat. The room was clean, but shabby, and tiles were missing and falling off in the bathroom.
could do with cosmetic refurb paint work off colour curtains with mold stains more attention could be paid to outside area cleaning up leaves at entrance
Not far from god pub
Staff not freindly, never even asked about breakfast
Scruffy - Grubby room,
as a builder, convenience.
no milk, no heating and no bar. long term residents on police tag.
On arrival we were shown to to the room. As advertised on the web site - there was no iron in the room also no telephone. The bathroom was in a bad state. Tiles cracked on the floor and part of the bath had fallen away. We changed rooms. We did however did have to request and iron but no ironing board. The double room was set out for a single room with not enough towels or tea making facilities. Which we had to request again. On inspection the duvet was ripped. The double bed consisted of two very flat pillows which we had to request yet again for more. In the bathroom - there was a bottle of prescription cream. As advertised on the website the restaurant we meant to be open. This was not the case only open Monday to Thursday.
Not alot. Only saw 2 Members of staff one that showed us our room when we arrived but it took quite a while to find any staff member. The other member of staff cooked our breakfast and we handed our keys to on departure and he couldn,t speak or understand english
No reception so difficult to get any information. A big language problem.
Very friendly reception even though we arrived late and after usual reception times. This independant Hotel had a room available (last remaining) at short notice when all other chains in the region were full. Car park near reception. Safe location. Nice old building. N.B. Our stay clearly coincided with the hotel being mid-renovation/decoration and the receptionist who showed us to room apologised for this - although this was not a problem. The room decor did need some updating and once hotel renovations are complete - I am sure that comfort for guests will be much improved . We had a reasonably priced room (twin bed @ £40 not including breakfast).
Although tea/coffee Hot choc sachets were provided - we couldnt use these as there was no kettle in our room (which I believe was a simple oversight).
Larger bed, in a single room, towels, privacy, WiFi, beverage making facilities, iron and board in room. Breakfast was good but expensive, coffee terrible.
Location, coffee, satilight tv useless , no room.information inside room.
The location and the friendliness and helpfulness o fthe staff
The bed was not comfortable, and only one pillow per person. The Hotel was was very noisy until the early hours - other guests talking and arguing very loudly in the corridors
Nice old interior design, quiet, good area, there is a park next door, antiques in the hotel. Free car park.
Nobody at reception most of the times. Sitting room is closed at 11:30 pm, not secure, no mini bar in the rooms, no shampoo and not enough bath gel.
The only good thing that can be said for the hotel, is that it wasd handy for where I needed to be.
Very impersonal and suspected food poisining after breakfast.
Room run down in need of a good clean & improvement to decor. Bathroom there was evidence of previous guests, clothes labels on the floor behind the door. Window did not lock properly. Carpet worn. Pipes exposed. I got this room at weekend rate but feel cheated & glad I did not pay the full rate.
